Heart of Education

This year has meant adapting to new challenges and doing things in new ways. Each year we gather for the Heart of Education to honor Burlington educators who are retiring. This year we are adapting and honoring them digitally. We did not get to gather, give speeches and roast you, but know that we will miss you! Please scroll down to see everyone.

Deb Anger

Deb Anger, physical education and heath teacher at Hunt Middle School, is retiring after 23 years of educating and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

Patrick Barrett

Patrick Barrett, English teacher at Burlington High School since 1999, is retiring after 21 years of educating students.

Fran Brock

Fran Brock, history teacher at Burlington High School and past BEA President, is retiring after 27 years of educating students.

Bob Couillard

Bob Couillard, teacher of welding and metal fabrication at the Burlington Technical Center, is retiring after 30 years of educating students.

Liane Couture

Liane Couture, school counselor at Champlain Elementary School and for many years at Flynn Elementary School, is retiring after 30 years in education.

Robin Cruz

Robin Cruz, special education teacher at Burlington High School, is retiring after 38 years of educating students.

Cathy Dion

Cathy Dion, paraeducator at Flynn Elementary School, is retiring after 23 years of educating students.

Lida Dvorak

Lida Dvorak, Physical Education teacher at Flynn Elementary School, is retiring after 31 years of educating students.

Terri Lessard

Terri Lessard, Instructional Coach at Champlain Elementary School and former classroom teacher, is retiring after 35 years in education.

Alice Patalano

Alice Patalano, First Grade teacher at Champlain Elementary School is retiring after 22 years of educating students.

Therese Ryan

Terry Ryan, Special Education teacher at Champlain Elementary School, is retiring after more than 40 years in education.

Joan Siegel

Joan Siegel, Student Services Coordinator at the Burlington Technical Center, is retiring after 36 years of educating students.
